Detailed 5 Nights 6 Days Shimla Manali Itinerary – Ex Chandigarh

Day 1 – Chandigarh to Shimla (Approx. 115 km | 4–5 Hours Drive)

Your journey begins upon arrival in Chandigarh, where our representative will greet you at the airport, railway station, or hotel. After a brief introduction, begin the scenic drive toward Shimla, the capital city of Himachal Pradesh.

The route gradually ascends from the plains of Punjab into the Shivalik hills. As you travel through winding mountain roads, the landscape transforms into pine-covered slopes and cool mountain air.

The drive to Shimla typically takes around 4 to 5 hours depending on traffic and weather conditions.

Shimla, located at an altitude of approximately 2,276 meters above sea level, was once the summer capital of British India and is known for its colonial architecture, pleasant climate, and scenic Himalayan views.

Upon arrival in Shimla, check into your pre-booked hotel and relax after the journey. The evening is free to enjoy the pleasant weather and peaceful atmosphere of this historic hill station.

Day 2 – Shimla Local Sightseeing & Kufri Excursion

After breakfast at the hotel, begin a full day of sightseeing in and around Shimla. This day covers some of the most famous colonial landmarks and scenic viewpoints in the region.

Mall Road

Mall Road is the main commercial and social hub of Shimla. The street is lined with cafés, bakeries, restaurants, and shops selling handicrafts and woolen garments.

Visitors often enjoy strolling along Mall Road while taking in views of the surrounding mountains.

The Ridge

The Ridge is a large open promenade located above Mall Road. It offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountain ranges and serves as the cultural center of Shimla.

Christ Church

Christ Church, built in 1857, is one of the oldest churches in North India. The neo-Gothic architecture and stained-glass windows make it one of Shimla’s most iconic landmarks.

Jakhoo Temple

Located on Jakhoo Hill, the highest point in Shimla, Jakhoo Temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. The temple also features a towering statue of Hanuman and offers spectacular views of the surrounding hills.

Indian Institute of Advanced Study

In the afternoon, drive to Kufri, a popular hill destination located about 15 kilometers from Shimla.

The route follows the Beas River valley for much of the journey, offering beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.

Sunder Nagar Lake

During the journey, stop at Sunder Nagar Lake, a calm and scenic reservoir surrounded by hills. This is a popular stop for travelers to relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere before continuing the drive.

Kullu Valley

Kullu Valley is known as the “Valley of Gods” and is famous for its natural beauty and traditional handicrafts.

The drive takes approximately 7 to 8 hours and follows the scenic Beas River valley for much of the route. The journey offers beautiful views of mountain landscapes, riverbanks, and small Himachali villages.

As the road descends from the hills toward the plains of Punjab, the climate gradually becomes warmer and the terrain flatter.

Upon arrival in Chandigarh, our driver will drop you at the airport, railway station, or hotel depending on your onward travel plans.
